WEIGHT LOSS USING THE NIGERIAN DIET
For we Nigerians, picking the right groups of foods to eat when trying to lose weight might prove a bit difficult as most of our meals are not actually listed on the internet. I have received so many questions on how to lose weight using the Nigerian diet. However, We firstly have to bear in mind that in order to lose weight, we have to burn off more than we are eating. Exercising, jogging in the morning all helps us achieve this, and then you could combine it with the right Nigerian diet.
Now in order to lose weight, some things you should try to reduce intake of (not entirely stop) in the Nigerian diet , when trying to lose weight include:
1. Eba (garri): very rich in starchy contents. Could help you increase your belly size!!!!
2. Pounded yam: also very rich in starchy contents
3. Amala
4. Tuwo (shinkafa): pounded rice
5. Oily Soups in general: the reason is this: for most of our Nigerian soups, it involves putting in lots of oils, especially for the yorubas. However, if you could make okro soup without adding oils and taking it like that as a full meal, that would be helpful. Ewedu is also good if you can take it with stew that does not have plenty oils.
6. Ofada Rice and rice in general.
7. Irish potatoes
8. Akpu (another bulging tummy stimulator)
9. Semovita
10. yam
Foods in the Nigerian diet that are helpful include:
1. Vegetable soups: try to avoid adding oils. Vegetables are high in fiber and would be very beneficial to your weight loss program
2. Beans: high in protein, also classified as a fat burning food
3. Moi-moi.: this is also high in protein content
4. Boiled fish: i prefer boiled because of the oils in the fried ones
5. Skinless chicken
6. Turkey
7. Lean meat (not torso o!)
I am working on a full 2 week diet using Nigerian foods so look out for that!! Please leave your comments and feel free to ask any questions.
