The major source from which carbohydrates are gotten is usually from plants. Our bodies convert the carbohydrates which we eat, into monosaccarides . The monosaccarides are taken to the liver where they are converted to glucose. Glucose is broken down to ATP which is stored in our muscles and liver, and are finally converted the fatty acids which are stored in our fatty tissue as triglycerides(FAT)
Now the question is should you avoid carbohydrates totally when trying to lose weight?
Well, the first thing we should always remember is that it is actually a low calorie diet that causes weight loss. Remember that a gram of carbohydrate contains 4 calories, so if the food label says that food contains 100 g of carbs it means its 400 calories!
If you want to avoid carbohydrates, don’t avoid them totally, instead trying cutting out the simple ones from your diet!!
